more than a kilometer in length, the corviale stretches at the western edge of rome as a monument of the utopian thinking of an era of social and technological optimism. built in the 1970s, it was intended to be the ultimate solution to social and urbanist problems: a megastructure, accommodating community areas, shops, a school and many more facilites–and even an interior road that stretches across the whole building. not everything worked out as planned by the probably a little naive architects, but the corviale is still the home of thousands of happy residents and a fascinating landmark of late post-war modernism.
